The temperate forest of New Hampshire
offer a renewable resource, with a variety of Softwood and Hardwood species,
each with their own unique characteristics.
SOFTWOOD SOFTWOOD

Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)

Mainly used for framing lumber, the bark is
the best for landscaping applications.
Red Spruce (Picea rubens)

Although it has many application, it is considered the best for framing because of it's fine quality, it can also be sawn into clapboards and used in some musical instruments.
SOFTWOOD HARDWOOD

Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus)

This species has many applications, from
interior construction, furniture, windows,
doors and sidings.


Beech (Fagus grandifolia)

Used for furniture, square stock and railroad
ties.
HARDWOOD (birches) HARDWOOD   (birches)

Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera)

One of the best hardwoods for rotary
turning. Also, fine for baskets, boxes,
spools and millwork.

Yellow Birch (Betula alleghaniensis)

A beautiful hardwood tree, uses vary from furniture to veneer panels and doors.

Red Maple  (Acer rubrum)

Wood used mainly for furniture, typically substituted for more expensive hardwoods.
Sugar Maple  (Acer saccharum)

One of our most valued hardwoods, uses
include, but not limited to, furniture and
veneer applications.

Northern Red Oak  (Quercus rubra)

An opened grain wood for furniture and
for it's value as a good rotary or slicing log.
White Oak  (Quercus alba)

The same uses as red oak, but almost at the
end of it's northern most growing sites.

White Ash  (Fraxinus americana)

Provides hard, strong and durable lumber for furniture, handles, oars, musical instruments, baseball bats and snow shoes.
